Changi Museum ranked top museum in Singapore
Changi Museum is named the top museum in Singapore in TripAdvisor’s annual Top 10 Traveller’s Choice Museums awards on Tuesday (Sep 15).
The museum along Upper Changi Road North beat the likes of the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) and the National Museum of Singapore, to take top spot in the awards based on reviews of TripAdvisor travellers over the past year.
It placed 21st in Asia.
“We are very happy and humbled to be named Singapore’s top museum by TripAdvisor travellers,” said Mr Jeya Ayadurai, Director of The Changi Museum.
“The Changi Museum exists to honour the spirit and sacrifices of all who lived and died in Singapore during the dark years of World War II.”
He added that the Museum would continue to work hard and share inspirational stories of WWII with the public.
Changi Museum opened in 2001 to replace the Old Changi Chapel and Museum that was built in 1988.
In 2014, the museum was placed second in the same awards, while the ACM placed first.
The top 25 museums around the world were named, with dedicated lists for regions like Asia, Canada, Europe, India and the U.S. A total of 591 winners were identified globally.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York took top spot for Top 10 Museums in the World.
