New BBC4 doco sheds new light on the FEPOW Story
BBC4’s documentary entitled Building Burma’s Death Railway: Moving Half the Mountain was aired earlier this month in the UK. Its a moving tribute to the men who built the railway and notably includes the reminiscing of a handful of former Japanese guards who have finally broken their silence. They recall the chaotic final days of the fall of Singapore and the brutal conditions of the camps. Their accounts are illustrated with some lesser viewed archive footage and some engaging pictures by Jack Chalker.
It is not known if the program will be aired in Singapore. Lets hope so.
